Innovatrics has launched a new software tool, called Latent Editor, that could be a great aid in forensic investigations.
It’s designed to let users edit and enhance latent fingerprint images. It has an automatic minutiae detection feature, and a ‘smart separation’ function designed to let users separate overlapping fingerprints. And it can be used with any AFIS, not just Innovatrics systems.
As Innovatrics Delivery & Solutions Director Matúš Kapusta explained in a statement announcing the tool, it’s a direct response to customer demand. “Our AFIS customers told us that they wanted a lightweight, easy-to-use tool for editing latent prints,” he said. “Based on this feedback, we’ve developed this powerful, intuitive and interoperable Latent Editor.”
Innovatrics’ fingerprint recognition technology has proven highly accurate in recent testing, achieving a 99.98 percent match rate in NIST’s PFT II test at the end of last year.
