Innovatrics has proven itself as one of Europe’s top facial recognition vendors in the latest round of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Face Recognition Vendor Test. The company is celebrating its #1 rank in 1:1 face matching, in the FRVT’s “visa” category.
Innovatrics beat all of its European competitors with a False Non-Match Rate of just over 0.5 percent. “This round of FRVT testing was focused on 1:1 identification, and our most recent algorithm has bested all the other participating ABIS providers,” said Innovatrics Head of Solution Matus Kapusta, in a statement on the company’s website.
While the company’s performance in the “visa” category is exceptional, Innovatrics nevertheless has some tough competition in the newly added category of “visa-border”, which entails comparisons between visa photos and poor-quality “wild” images from border webcam photos. In that new category, biometric algorithms from IDEMIA and TECH5 performed slightly better in terms of FNMR.
Still, Innovatrics’ showing is impressive, with strong marks in accuracy and speed. The company also ranked 13th worldwide in this round of testing.
Innovatrics’ announcement of its strong result in this latest FRVT round comes after the company added a mask detection feature to its SmartFace facial recognition solution last month. Back in April of this year, the company announced that it had added a new liveness detection system to its selfie-based authentication solution.
