Onfido‘s mobile biometrics technology has just seen a high-profile new integration, supporting identity security on the popular crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.
The platform is now using Onfido’s to help keep fraudsters off of the platform by prompting new users to upload images of their official identity documents as well as selfies. Onfido’s system is designed to verify official IDs and to match the facial images they contain to the user’s submitted selfie image, allowing for remote authentication through a mobile device.
In a statement announcing the integration, Indiegogo Head of Trust and Safety Kerry Baker explained that implementing this kind of anti-fraud authentication technology helps her organization to “avoid hefty non-compliance fines,” and to ensure that Indeigogo’s end users “have more faith that their money is going to the causes and innovations they really believe in.” Baker added, “No other provider was able to deliver the global coverage, sophisticated technology and consistent support that we get from Onfido”.
News of the integration comes less than two weeks after Onfido’s announcement that Volopa, a London-based provider of white label prepaid card programs, had also implemented Onfido’s solution for customer onboarding, suggesting that Onfido has strong momentum in the fast-growing selfie authentication market.
