Incode has optimized its Biotrust identity verification platform for use in sports stadiums and other large entertainment venues. The solution allows fans to gain entry to a venue using facial recognition, and now comes with other perks to further enhance the user experience.
According to Incode, those who opt into the biometric identity program will be able to enter venues more quickly, and will no longer be stuck waiting in lines outside. The use of biometrics is also expected to improve security, presumably because people are less likely to cause trouble when they know they can be identified after the fact. Incode noted that fighting and disorderly conduct have become a bigger problem in the stands in the past few years, to the point that Mexican lawmakers introduced new regulations for stadiums in response to a brawl during a live soccer match.
Facial recognition can similarly help with access control, ensuring that only those with the proper permissions can gain access to VIP areas and other restricted parts of the stadium. The improved Biotrust was built with an eye toward privacy, and comes with mechanisms to gain the consent of users when they register for the platform. Incode is hoping that those mechanisms will make people feel more comfortable using the technology.
“The use of AI to verify someone’s identity can completely revolutionize how people attend events,” said Incode Founder and CEO Ricardo Amper. “It’s now time to change the processes we’ve had in place for years – from paper tickets to long wait times – and give people safe, seamless and enjoyable experiences.”
The improved Incode platform can function without an internet connection, and gives event organizers the ability to issue NFTs as digital souvenirs when people buy their tickets. The company itself has already partnered with Orlegi Sports to bring biometric tech to several soccer stadiums in Mexico, and will offer advisory services to venues that want to make the most of the new technology.
Incode raised $25 million in Series A funding in March of 2021, and has already released a HealthID solution to help businesses maintain a safe work environment during the pandemic. Fan experiences will also be one of the topics of discussion at FindBiometrics’ upcoming Travel & Hospitality Online Summit on May 18.
