Inception Technologies has announced a new hand geometry reader designed for employee attendance tracking and management. The company boasts that its Atlas 2000 reader offers a new level of connectivity and ease-of-use that will make it particularly appealing for widespread use in the workplace.
There has been a recent trend of private-sector companies adopting biometric technology for tracking employee attendance, whether the purpose is to crack down on fraudulent time records or simply to save on administrative costs, so it is indeed a strong possibility that a handheld device tailored for everyday use in the workplace could find a welcome market. The Atlas 2000, moreover, includes software offering the functionality to let employees and managers arrange their schedules with the device, such as by requesting or approving time off, for example.
It’s still too early to say for certain whether the appetite for biometric employee tracking will become widespread enough to really support a product like the Atlas 2000 hand reader, but there is a strong and consistent overall trend of the gradual (or sometimes rapid) adoption of biometric technology into everyday life, so Inception Technology’s prospects look pretty good at this point.
