InCadence to Produce Handheld Biometric Devices for US Marines

Virginia-based InCadence has won a major new contract to supply biometric identification devices for the US Marines.

The contract concerns a device called the IDS-MC, for “Identity Dominance System-Marine Corps Increment 2”. It’s a handheld unit allowing soldiers to capture face, fingerprint, and iris biometrics and match them against a database. The IDS-MC Inc. 2 is intended to be a faster, enhanced version of the original IDS-MC, and will be light enough that Marines can more easily carry it into field operations.

InCadence will produce IDS-MC Inc. 2 systems and software, and offer maintenance support and spare parts, according to the terms of the contract. The term of the agreement extends to May of 2025.

As Military & Aerospace Electronics reports, InCadence was selected for a Marine Corp. Rapid Innovation Fund contract back in June of 2018, bringing the company into a program aimed at stimulating private sector development of technologies that can later feed into military acquisition programs.

InCadence’s latest contract win comes after the company landed a $20 million contract to provide biometric technology for the US Army. More specifically, that agreement tapped InCadence to provide biometric hardware and software for a Department of Defence Biometrics office Near Real Time Identity Operations task order.
