Imprivata is being recognized for delivering innovative security and workflow solutions for the healthcare industry. The company is the recipient of a 2021 Fortress Cyber Security Award, and specifically picked up a prize in the Authentication and Identity category.
Imprivata, of course, is best known as a digital identity provider. The company’s technology is designed primarily for the healthcare sector, and can be used to verify the identities of patients and employees alike. In doing so, it improves patient care and simplifies administrative tasks for healthcare workers, since biometric authentication gives doctors secure access to sensitive information on shared devices.
The Fortress Cyber Security Awards, meanwhile, were set up to acknowledge solutions that can fend off modern cyberthreats and protect people’s personal information. Imprivata’s technology proved to be particularly appealing to healthcare organizations that needed a convenient way to identify patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the company has spent much of the past year updating its portfolio to support contactless biometrics. For example, the PatientSecure platform has historically utilized a touch-based palm vein scanner, but Imprivata partnered with Keyo to deliver a contactless version of the solution in October.
Imprivata has also teamed up with IDEMIA and Aware to enable biometric self-enrollment for those using Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances programs. IDEMIA is providing Imprivata with facial recognition, and Aware supplements it with liveness detection.
“We’re thrilled to have been recognized with this prestigious honor, and view this as validation of our ongoing work providing market-leading authentication and digital identity solutions to our healthcare customers around the world,” said Imprivata CEO Gus Malezis. “We understand that our customers rely on us to help them safeguard their sensitive information. It’s crucial to remain vigilant and forward-thinking when it comes to cybersecurity.”
The Fortress Cyber Security Awards are presented by the Business Intelligence Group.
