The PatientSecure platform has already been deployed in over 350 hospitals and has been used to identify over 22 million patients.
Healthcare IT security solutions provider Imprivata is touting a biometric patient identification platform called Imprivata PatientSecure. The solution uses palm vein biometrics to match patients to their electronic health records.
Imprivata PatientSecure is the direct product of Imprivata’s acquisition of HT Systems earlier this year, to acquire that company’s palm vein identification technology. Under the HT Systems brand, the PatientSecure platform has already been deployed in over 350 hospitals and has been used to identify over 22 million patients. That success can be credited to some extent to PatientSecure’s compatibility with a number of leading healthcare IT systems.
Now, under the Imprivata brand, the platform may see even further reach; Imprivata has made a name for itself in the healthcare IT industry with solutions such as hands-free mobile authentication, and its Confirm ID eSignature platform. There is a growing appetite in the healthcare industry for digital solutions, and Imprivata stands a very good chance of further establishing the PatientSecure platform as a leading patient identification system.
