Healthcare IT security specialist Imprivata has announced an upgrade to Imprivata Confirm ID. The company has integrated the Capsule SmartLinx Neuron 2 mobile clinical computer into its flagship platform.
SmartLinx Neuron 2 is basically a small computer designed to manage connectivity with various medical devices in order to facilitate integration of vital signs with the Electronic Medical Records. By integrating it into the Confirm ID platform, Imprivata aims to combine its capabilities with its own secure identification technology. The platform has so far mainly been used for EPCS (electronic prescriptions for controlled substances), but Imprivata is now expanding it to remote access and medical devices applications.
Commenting on the new integration in a statement, Imprivata CEO Omar Hussain explained that it’s all part of the company’s effort “to provide innovative authentication solutions that are seamlessly integrated into the care delivery process,” adding, “Our medical device partnership with Capsule is the first of many to show how we can enable our customers to have one user experience for all of their strong authentication needs.”
Imprivata plans to showcase the integration at the upcoming HIMSS 2016 conference in Las Vegas.
