Ergotron is upgrading its CareFit Pro Medical Cart with an assist from Imprivata. The company will specifically be integrating Imprivata’s Confirm ID technology into the CareFit Pro to enable No Click Access control for medical professionals who need to open secure drawers while providing care.
Coretek will be providing the IT infrastructure and technical expertise needed to carry out the integration. Ergotron is hoping that the enhanced carts will make things easier for doctors, since they will no longer need to enter passwords manually, and will instead be able to enjoy a badge-based passwordless access control experience.
Ergotron’s CareFit carts are often used to store medications, and therefore need strong security measures to make sure that unauthorized individuals do not gain access to restricted substances. The Confirm ID utility will allow doctors to open a drawer with a badge tap, and Ergotron believes that the smoother workflow will reduce stress for doctors who have been struggling with high levels of burnout and exhaustion during the pandemic.
Imprivata’s solution will also generate an auditable trail of access events, and provide IT teams with more insight into the use of the carts themselves. That information can then be used to optimize hospital operations and resource management.
“Improving your security posture is imperative in today’s threat landscape, but you must be able to do so without impeding patient care,” said Imprivata Senior Product Manager Dewin Chandra. “This integration addresses the need for efficient user access while making security invisible to accelerate both clinician work satisfaction and patient safety.”
“We’re addressing the needs of healthcare workers on the front lines who are working in some of the most challenging environments we’ve ever seen,” added Ergotron Senior Product Manager Angela Poulson. “By integrating a deeper level of identity authentication to our CareFit Pro medical carts, healthcare workers will be able to access secure information with their unique badge, ensuring more efficient care delivery.”
Imprivata recently made Confirm ID available on the Microsoft Azure platform. The company has also released a new assessment tool that allows healthcare organizations to improve their security posture, and partnered with IDEMIA and Aware to enable face-based identification.
