Imageware Passes iBeta Level 2 Liveness Detection Test

Imageware’s passive liveness detection solution has officially passed iBeta’s Level 1 and Level 2 Presentation Attack Detection tests. The certification specifically concerns Imageware’s Biointellic solution, which debuted in 2019 and serves as the liveness foundation for a slew of Imageware facial recognition products.

In that regard, Biointellic has been integrated into Imageware Authenticate and Imageware Proof, in addition to the broader Imageware Identity Platform. It is geared toward mobile identity verification applications, and ensures that a real person is present when they take a selfie to perform a facial recognition match.

iBeta, meanwhile, measures liveness detection products against a NIST standard. Imageware’s solution completed both Levels without conceding a single successful spoof, even after being challenged with a battery of spoofing techniques that included mannequins, high-resolution pictures and videos, and silicon masks.

“Anti-spoofing technology is essential to thwarting fraudsters trying to hack into personal accounts with biometric fakes,” said Imageware Product Management and Sales SVP AJ Naddell. “Reaching this milestone will help more customers who are interested in securing their enterprise with biometric authentication and identification.”

Biometric anti-spoofing technology has a wide range of applications. For example, it can prevent fraud during customer onboarding sessions, secure financial transactions, or enable passwordless access control for employee logins in the workplace.

The iBeta certification should improve Imageware’s prospects as it proceeds with its ongoing strategic review. The company has appointed a new Advisory Board, and recently renewed its longstanding contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Imageware is one of several companies that have attained iBeta compliance in the past 12 months. Innovatrics passed the Level 2 PAD test back in May, while ID R&D and Acuant passed the same milestone last October. iBeta itself has published a full list of all of the solutions that have completed its rigorous testing program.
