IDnow Names Philippe Morel Chief Executive

IDnow has appointed Philippe Morel as chief executive, succeeding Andreas Bodczek after more than seven years of leadership. Morel takes over as the European identity provider expands from transaction-level verification into a broader platform for authentication, fraud prevention and trust services.

Morel most recently led Railsr, a payments and embedded-finance platform, through a strategic repositioning and its merger with Equals Money. He previously served as chief executive of SETL, a regulated financial-market infrastructure company focused on payments, digital settlement and tokenization.

Earlier in his career, Morel was a senior partner and managing director at Boston Consulting Group. His work included leadership of the firm’s global capital-markets practice and its private-equity business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Bodczek had led IDnow since 2018. During his tenure, the company moved from founder leadership to private-equity backing under Corsair Capital and acquired identity Trust Management and French remote-verification provider ARIADNEXT.

The transition follows the launch of the IDnow Trust Platform in June. The product combines identity verification, biometric authentication, fraud controls and qualified digital trust services through modular tools and a shared orchestration layer.

IDnow positions the platform as a way for regulated organizations to manage identity signals across a customer relationship rather than conducting a single know-your-customer check. The architecture includes tools to configure workflows, monitor risk information and automate decisions through one integration.

Morel’s appointment puts an executive with payments, regulated-infrastructure and consulting experience in charge of that expansion. The company has not announced a change to the platform roadmap or disclosed new financial targets with the leadership transition.

The market includes point solutions as well as procurements for managed verification, such as Malta’s recent online identity-verification tender. IDnow’s strategy is to offer those functions within a wider trust stack shaped by anti-money-laundering rules, eIDAS 2.0 and EU Digital Identity Wallet adoption.

IDnow remains backed by Corsair Capital and operates offices in Germany, France, Romania and the United Kingdom. The leadership change comes only weeks after the platform launch, making execution of that product strategy the clearest near-term continuity point.

Morel said his first priority would be to listen to customers, employees and partners before defining the company’s next growth phase. The company did not disclose compensation terms with the appointment.
