IDEX Biometrics has revealed that it has received more than $700,000 in production orders through the first four months of 2020. The company is currently ramping up production to meet those obligations, and expects to ship the orders in the second and third quarters of the year.
The components will be shipped to customers in Europe, Asia, and the US, and will be deployed for payment and access control applications. IDEX expects to receive a steady string of orders moving forward, which will in turn lead to monthly shipments.
“Throughout 2019 and into early 2020, IDEX worked with these customers to test and qualify the IDEX solution for their specific application,” said IDEX CEO Vince Graziani. “We are pleased to now be moving into the commercialization phase and beginning to ship production units to our customers.”
Graziani went on to note that IDEX’s fingerprint sensors and matching software have now been certified by two different payment networks. The technology will appear in a new biometric payment card from a tier 1 manufacturer in Europe, and similar biometric card offerings from Tongxin and FEITIAN have already received China UnionPay certification.
IDEX is also supplying the fingerprint sensors for a new biometric card from Zwipe and IDEMIA. That project is expected to reach the commercial phase in early 2021.
