IDEX has developed a new biometric matching algorithm tailored for smart card applications.
In a statement announcing the solution, the company said the algorithm was “specifically designed to deliver a step-function improvement in performance for applications with acute power, processing and memory limitations.” Commenting further, IDEX CEO Dr. Hemant Mardia said the solution is built upon algorithm technology acquired in 2014, adding that “IDEX’s new matcher is ultra-compact and delivers excellent performance in user testing.”
IDEX says that solution has attained a 1:50,000 FAR and a “low single digit” FRR in such user tests.
The announcement underlines IDEX’s commitment to the biometric smart card market, with the company’s technology having been used in trials of a new biometric payment card from Mastercard. IDEX also recently announced a low-power, flexible fingerprint sensor designed for NFC cards, which the company says will be marketed together with its new algorithm in the second half of this year.
