“The sensors will be used in Zwipe’s Pay ONE platform, with the order supporting Zwipe’s efforts to serve smart card makers and card issuers in Europe, APAC, and the Americas.”
The emerging biometric payment card market continues to gain momentum, with Zwipe placing a sizeable order for fingerprint sensors from IDEX Biometrics for its FinTech solution.
The order is for 300,000 units of IDEX’s TrustedBio sensor solution. The sensors will be used in Zwipe’s Pay ONE platform, with the order supporting Zwipe’s efforts to serve smart card makers and card issuers in Europe, APAC, and the Americas.
IDEX’s TrustedBio sensors seem to have been growing in popularity in recent months. IDEX received its first volume order for the solution in September, and last week announced volume orders from Dongwoon Anatech.
For its part, Zwipe appears to be seeing growing demand for its Pay ONE platform as more organizations embrace the biometric payment card concept. The company has previously announced two other partnerships this month aimed at bringing biometric payment cards to the Middle East market.
In a statement announcing the Zwipe’s order, IDEX said that it’s the first commercial order since the company “signed a Channel Partner Agreement earlier in 2020.” The companies were also involved in a collaboration with IDEMIA, which produced the first samples of a new chip for biometric cards this past spring.
Commenting on the Zwipe order, IDEX Biometrics CEO Vince Graziani called it “a very encouraging start” to the companies’ partnership.
“We, and Zwipe, firmly believe the combination of the Pay ONE platform with IDEX’s TrustedBio sensor is a leading solution just as the market for biometric smart cards begins to ramp up,” he said. “We look forward to a long term and mutually beneficial partnership.”
