IDEX ASA‘s CEO, Dr. Hemant Mardia, has been invited to speak at the Biometrics and Banking Conference in London, the company has announced. The conference is hosted by the European Association for Biometrics (EAB), a non-profit whose goal is to work with the governments, citizens and the industry to help advance the use of biometric technologies in Europe.
Dr. Mardia plans to discuss the use of fingerprint biometrics in the areas of banking and payments – a specialty of IDEX. In a statement announcing the speech, the company suggested that the growth of payment applications, including those related to mPayments, are helping to drive the company’s business activities; and indeed, the trends appear to work in the company’s favor, with fingerprint sensors now being more or less standard features on higher-end smartphones, and the growth of mPayments helping to further promote them as an authentication tool. It’s for these reasons, at least in part, that in a recent mid-year update IDEX asserted that it’s “positioned to capture significant share of the multi-billion dollar market opportunity for fingerprint sensors based on strong product portfolio and partners.”
IDEX has also recently seen interest in its off-chip sensor, with a major order from World Wide Touch Technology Holding Ltd., and other OEMs are said to be trialing the technology as well.
