“…the company asserted that ‘APSCA has one of the largest business networks in Asia with over 11,000 payments and identity industry executives from end-users and suppliers, including senior decision-makers from government agencies, banks, credit card companies, transport and ticketing operators, mobile operators and merchants.'”
IDEX has become a member of the Asia Pacific Smart Card Association, the company has announced. The news comes after IDEX delivered a presentation at the APSCA Powered and Next-Generation Cards Conference & Exhibition last autumn.
The move is, of course, a reflection of IDEX’s pursuit of the emerging biometric payment cards market, which the company called its “top priority” in its Q1 update. IDEX is one of multiple players seeking to get its fingerprint sensor technology integrated into these emerging card solution; and this past May, the company announced that its technology was being used in a trial underway in the Middle East.
IDEX’s membership in APSCA could open new opportunities in the APAC region. In announcing its membership in the industry alliance, the company asserted that “APSCA has one of the largest business networks in Asia with over 11,000 payments and identity industry executives from end-users and suppliers, including senior decision-makers from government agencies, banks, credit card companies, transport and ticketing operators, mobile operators and merchants”.
For APSCA’s part, the organization’s Chairman, Greg Pote, pointed to the growing excitement over biometric payment cards, asserting that biometric technology is “becoming an essential foundation for consumer payments and identity solutions while next-generation biometric smart cards are the latest example of this trend.” Pote added that “IDEX is one of the technology companies driving this new development.”
