New York-based security systems company Idesco Corp. has sealed a partnership with FST Biometrics that will see the latter’s biometric access control system integrated into Idesco’s suite of security solutions. More specifically, Idesco will now offer its clients FST’s In Motion Identification (IMID) technology.
The IMID Access system is designed for seamless, non-invasive access control. Using facial recognition technology in combination with behavioral analytics, the system can identify individuals on site, providing access for those with clearance without requiring any special effort from them other than to walk in range of the system. And in the most sensitive security situations, the system can also be configured to require speech from users, employing voice recognition for further authentication.
It’s a pretty comprehensive system. Many of these biometric technologies are currently gaining in popularity separately – as in the case of behavioral analytics being developed to authenticate individuals in online transactions, and facial recognition being used to automate the issuing of official documentation – but few access control systems have combined them together; generally this area has favored more traditional biometric technologies like fingerprint scanning. But as sophisticated access control systems become more widespread, there will be a growing demand for ease of use, and FST’s non-intrusive system will surely bring Idesco some business going forward.
