“We are very fortunate to have Andrew joining the FaceTec team. As biometric security becomes a critical part of our daily lives, his well-earned industry experience and deep understanding of standards and credentialing will be crucial to FaceTec’s continued success.” – Kevin Alan Tussy, CEO, FaceTec
FaceTec has brought on Andrew Hughes, a standards and compliance expert with over 25 years of experience in digital identity, as the company’s new Vice President of Global Standards.
Hughes has an impressive resume that speaks to his fit for the role. He has been working in board and advisory roles with the Kantara Initiative, a consortium focused on establishing standards for identity management, access control, and privacy, for almost eight years. And before making the move to FaceTec, he spent a little over two years serving as Ping Identity’s Director of Identity Standards. Prior to that, he was IDEMIA’s Director of Identity Architecture for a similar timeframe.
At FaceTec, Hughes will be a pivotal figure in helping the company and its clients to adapt to changing and emerging regulatory frameworks around the world.
“We are very fortunate to have Andrew joining the FaceTec team,” said FaceTec CEO Kevin Alan Tussy. “As biometric security becomes a critical part of our daily lives, his well-earned industry experience and deep understanding of standards and credentialing will be crucial to FaceTec’s continued success.”
Hughes joins the company at an exciting time. FaceTec has clearly established itself as a leading provider of sophisticated 2D and 3D face scanning technology, reporting surging revenues quarter after quarter as the need for strong identity assurance solutions continues to intensify. In FaceTec’s most recent update for Q3, Tussy flagged the need for organizations to “defend against generative AI deepfakes to prevent digital impersonation of their employees and end-users using trusted identity reverification with strong, Liveness-proven biometrics.”
Hughes has expertise to bring to bear on that particular problem, as well. For the past few months, he has been the chair of the Kantara Initiative’s Deepfakes/AI Threats to ID Verification group.
For his part, Hughes expressed confidence in FaceTec’s ability to meet the challenge. “FaceTec’s rapid growth is a testament to the effectiveness of its approach and how much the world needs trustworthy remote identity verification at this moment,” he said. “I look forward to contributing to this important technology’s global expansion, standardization, and adoption.”
