IDEMIA Renews Fingerprint Contract With State of Indiana

IDEMIA Identity and Security’s (IDEMIA I&S) North American division has renewed its fingerprint recognition contract with the state of Indiana. The company first started providing fingerprint identification services for the state back in 2009.

The new contract covers an initial six-year period, and could eventually reach eight years thanks to the inclusion of two one-year extension options. IDEMIA will also upgrade Indiana’s current identification hardware and software as part of the deal. The comprehensive system leverages IDEMIA’s livescan technology for biometric enrollment, and supplements that with a backend processing solution and an appointment registration system.

As it stands, more than 370 state and local agencies in Indiana are already using IDEMIA’s fingerprint capture technology. That roster includes the Indiana State Police. The agencies themselves use the livescan to verify the identities of employees, and to register members of the public in various certification and licensing programs. The technology can support online and in-person authentication operations.

IDEMIA signed a similar six-year livescan contract with the New South Wales Police Force in March of 2020. IDEMIA I&S North America, meanwhile, recently made several changes in the executive suite by bringing on a new Senior Vice President of Travel and Transport, a new Vice President of Government Relations, and a new Chief Technology Officer. The company has also enrolled 12 million individuals in the TSA’s PreCheck screening program as of mid-October.
