IDEMIA Public Security has appointed Vincent Bouatou as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Head of the International CTO Office, effective November 5. The appointment comes as the company continues to expand its biometric technology offerings and digital identity solutions.
Bouatou brings over 20 years of experience in identity and security technology to the role. Prior to this appointment, he served in several key positions at IDEMIA, including leadership roles in the Research and Technology Unit, Global R&D, and Public Security & Identity divisions. He also previously worked at Microsoft’s Higher Education and Academic Research Relations group, where he developed partnerships between academia and industry in technology research.
In his new position, Bouatou will oversee IDEMIA’s technology strategy, technical governance, and artificial intelligence initiatives. This appointment follows IDEMIA’s recent success in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) evaluations, where the company’s facial recognition and fingerprint algorithms achieved high accuracy ratings.
According to Matt Cole, CEO of IDEMIA Public Security, “Vincent’s technical expertise and industry experience will help strengthen our position in biometric technology development while maintaining our focus on security, equity, and privacy protection.”
The appointment comes as IDEMIA expands its digital identity verification services, recently demonstrated through its participation in the European Union’s digital identity wallet pilots. The company’s biometric solutions are currently used in various government and commercial applications, including border control, law enforcement, and secure access systems.
