IDEMIA Public Security Launches Smart Credential Minidriver with ARM64 Support

IDEMIA Public Security announced its next-generation Smart Credential Minidriver for the Microsoft Windows 11 ecosystem, now featuring full support for ARM64 devices including PCs, tablets, and phones.

The update enables enterprise-grade authentication across all modern Windows architectures – ARM64, Intel, and AMD – with native integration with Microsoft identity services including Windows Hello for Business and Microsoft Entra ID.

“Organizations in regulated industries are rapidly moving to mixed hardware environments, and the need for consistent, smart-based authentication has never been higher,” said Virginie Flam, SVP of Smart Biometrics at IDEMIA Public Security.

The minidriver is compatible with IDEMIA’s ID-One PIV 243 smart card, which became the first new PIV card added to the GSA Approved Products List in four years, and ID-One USB security keys.

The product targets organizations in regulated industries that are deploying diverse device fleets including ARM64-based laptops and tablets known for long battery life and efficient performance. ARM64 architecture, originally developed for mobile devices, has gained traction in enterprise computing as manufacturers seek more power-efficient alternatives to traditional x86 processors.

The release reflects IDEMIA Public Security’s federal contracts, including a $194.5 million GSA agreement to provide identity verification for Login.gov.

IDEMIA’s new minidriver addresses a gap in enterprise authentication as ARM64 Windows devices proliferate but smart card support has lagged behind traditional Intel and AMD platforms. The technology allows IT departments to maintain consistent PKI-based authentication policies across heterogeneous device environments without requiring separate credential management systems.

The minidriver is available now for Windows 11 ARM64, Intel, and AMD platforms.
