IDEMIA Public Security has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with SAMI Advanced Electronics to develop biometric and intelligent mobility technologies in Saudi Arabia, aligning with the country’s Vision 2030 goals.
The agreement, formalized at GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai, establishes a long-term framework for collaboration on secure digital infrastructure, transport innovation, and frictionless travel systems. IDEMIA Public Security will contribute its global expertise in biometric travel and identity management, while SAMI Advanced Electronics will provide regional technology and implementation capabilities.
According to the companies, the partnership is intended to accelerate the digital transformation of Saudi Arabia’s mobility sector by introducing advanced biometric and smart-city solutions. These include systems for secure passenger verification, automated transport management, and real-time data integration to enhance efficiency and safety across public and private transit networks.
Tim Ferris, Global Head of Travel & Transport at IDEMIA Public Security, said the initiative represents a concrete step toward realizing seamless and secure mobility in the Kingdom. “This partnership with SAMI Advanced Electronics brings us one step closer to realizing a future of seamless and secure mobility in Saudi Arabia,” he said. “Together, we’re not only supporting Vision 2030 – we’re actively shaping the future of secure, seamless mobility for all who live, work, and travel in the Kingdom.”
The agreement emphasizes local capacity building and knowledge transfer, reinforcing IDEMIA’s strategy to anchor innovation within regional markets. SAMI Advanced Electronics, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Military Industries, develops electronics and digital systems for defense, transportation, and smart-infrastructure applications.
IDEMIA Public Security’s biometric and identity solutions are already deployed by more than 600 government agencies worldwide, supporting border management, law enforcement, and travel facilitation programs. The company’s global portfolio includes automated border gates, multimodal biometric verification systems, and secure credential issuance platforms designed to enhance both security and passenger experience.
The announcement follows a series of recent developments in Saudi Arabia’s digital-identity and mobility initiatives, including IDEMIA’s earlier collaboration with Technology Control Company on digital ID and smart-city projects, and the country’s continuing expansion of digital identity services through platforms such as Absher. The new IDEMIA-SAMI partnership underscores how Vision 2030 is driving investment in interoperable, technology-driven infrastructure to modernize transport and support sustainable urban growth.
