IDEMIA Public Security and Indicio Launch Interoperable Identity Verification for Financial Services

IDEMIA Public Security and Indicio have launched a joint identity-verification offering for financial services that combines biometric proofing, document checks and verifiable credentials in a single workflow. The companies said the partnership is aimed at banks, decentralized-finance platforms and cross-border payment providers that need to verify users to a high assurance level while making those credentials portable across institutions and jurisdictions.

The new platform combines IDEMIA Public Security’s biometric identity proofing and document verification with Indicio’s verifiable credential platform, Indicio Proven. The companies said the setup gives enterprises a single integration point for onboarding, authentication and trusted data exchange rather than forcing them to connect separate proofing, wallet and credential systems. They also said the platform is built to reduce exposure to deepfake and synthetic-identity fraud while lowering the compliance friction that comes with cross-border customer journeys.

IDEMIA and Indicio said the platform supports mobile documents and mobile driver’s licenses for both proximity and remote verification, aligned with ISO 18013-5 and ISO 18013-7. They also said it can work with credentials aligned with the European Union’s digital identity specifications and other global frameworks. Once a user is verified, the model allows credentials to be stored in a secure wallet and reused in later interactions instead of repeating the full onboarding process from scratch. That reuse model matters in regulated financial settings, where repeated checks can slow onboarding, add compliance cost and create more handoffs between separate vendors.

The launch extends a broader IDEMIA push into reusable digital identity. Earlier this month the company partnered with Proof on privacy-preserving verifiable digital credentials, and in February it teamed with Trinsic to expand mobile driver’s license acceptance. The financial-services angle also lines up with recent work on portable digital payment identities.

The companies are positioning the combined stack as a single integration point covering onboarding, authentication, and cross-border credential reuse, targeting banks, decentralized-finance platforms, and payment providers that need to carry verified attributes across transactions rather than repeating full identity checks at each step.
