IDEMIA has announced two important promotions on its executive team. Julia Schoonenberg is the company’s new Executive Vice President of Financial Institutions, and Matt Cole has been named EVP of the company’s Public Security and Identity unit.
For her part, Schoonenberg came to the company by way of Oberthur Technologies, where she got her start as Telecoms Business Manager in 2002 and rose through the ranks to the position of RCIS Business Director when Oberthur merged with Safran Identity & Security in 2016 to form the multinational conglomerate that is now IDEMIA. She served as SVP of Financial Institutions in the Middle East and Africa before this latest promotion.
“We’ve got a number of payment solution challenges facing us in the next few years involving ever more security, user convenience and efficiency,” Schoonenberg commented in a statement. “I’m looking forward immensely to taking up these challenges alongside all my IDEMIA colleagues!”
Matt Cole, meanwhile, has been with the company since the start of 2020, when he joined was named as the head of IDEMIA’s Secure Enterprise Transactions business unit. Before coming to IDEMIA, Cole spent the bulk of his career at Cubic Transportation Systems, where he started as a Project Accountant in 2003 and eventually became President of the firm’s transportation business unit.
“We have ambitious growth targets as a team backed by our long track record of delivering worldwide market-leading security and identity solutions to French or international governments,” Cole said, adding that he looks forward to working with IDEMIA CEO Pierre Barrial and the rest of the executive team to deliver on those goals.
For his part, Barrial – who was promoted to the role of CEO in the middle of last year – praised Schoonenberg for having “been key in driving our business in the Middle East and Africa region,” and said he was “delighted” about Cole’s promotion, adding, “I have worked closely with him for the past two years and appreciated his strategic vision and leadership talent.”
News of the promotions comes after the appointment of two new VPs and a Chief Technology Officer at IDEMIA’s North American division this autumn.
