IDEMIA Gets First MLB Partner for PreCheck Expedited Biometric Screening Program

Another major partnership will further extend IDEMIA‘s TSA PreCheck expedited security screening system in the sports sector. The company has announced that it’s working with the Boston Red Sox to let fans get easy access to Fenway Park.

A collaboration with the Transportation Security Administration, TSA PreCheck was initially promoted as an expedited screening solution for airports, with registrants submitting biographic and biometric information in an initial enrollment, and then able to breeze through security screening with a fingerprint scan and no need to remove shoes, belts, laptops, and so on.

This is still its primary application, but over the past year IDEMIA has sought to extend its reach into large-scale venue access with partners like the Brooklyn Nets, the New York Jets, and the San Francisco 49ers. The Boston Red Sox represent IDEMIA’s first MLB partner.

IDEMIA is careful to emphasize that the expedited screening lanes at these sports stadiums are not TSA PreCheck security lanes, but rather “IDEMIA Fast Pass” lanes. Nevertheless, the partnerships open the door to greater enrollment for TSA PreCheck, with IDEMIA announcing that the Red Sox collaboration will deliver IDEMIA IdentoGO enrollment centers at home games.
