IDEMIA Public Security North America has introduced STORM LP-X, a cloud-native latent print software solution that enables forensic examiners to encode, submit searches, and compare fingerprints. The software-as-a-service platform integrates with state Automated Biometric Identification Systems (ABIS) and the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system, building upon IDEMIA’s growing portfolio of cloud-based biometric solutions.
STORM LP-X uses the same user interface as IDEMIA’s STORM ABIS platform, which was first deployed by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida as the nation’s first cloud-native ABIS implementation. The software incorporates the ACE-V (Analysis, Comparison, Evaluation, Verification) methodology alongside the GYRO (Green, Yellow, Red, and Orange System) documentation system. This solution serves as an alternative to traditional latent print workstations from state ABIS vendors and the Universal Latent Workstation (ULW) software.
The platform features an intuitive interface with drag-and-drop image upload capabilities and automatic encoding for improved accuracy. Additional functionalities include latent print quality mapping, analysis documentation using the GYRO system, and side-by-side print comparison. The software generates EBTS-compliant transactions and offers web-based access, allowing examiners to work from any location, including offices or crime scenes. This mobility represents a significant advancement over traditional forensic workstation solutions that typically require fixed installations.
Doug Harvey, CTO of IDEMIA Public Security North America, asserts that “STORM LP-X provides latent print examiners with an efficient, accessible, and innovative solution to search and match latent prints to help identify suspects.” Harvey adds that the product “exemplifies our mission of unlocking the world and making it safer by providing examiners with innovative, up-to-date, and efficient technology for forensic and criminal investigations when every second counts.”
The launch follows IDEMIA’s recent expansion of cloud-based biometric solutions, including the successful deployment of its cloud-native ABIS for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, demonstrating the company’s commitment to modernizing forensic technology infrastructure across law enforcement agencies.
