IDEMIA has officially become the latest member of the Kantara Board of Directors. The Kantara Initiative works to establish industry standards and promote best practices for privacy and digital identity, and IDEMIA will be asked to advance those goals as a member of the board.
To that end, IDEMIA will lend its expertise to various Kantara work groups, including the work groups that are trying to create standards for mobile driver’s licenses and the NIST SP 800-63-3 program. IDEMIA provided the technology for a new mobile driver’s license platform in Oklahoma, and has previously indicated that it has had similar talks with at least 38 state governments.
“Kantara has secured the necessary specifications, trust frameworks and research and development initiatives to positively impact digital identity and privacy in the daily lives of billions of people,” said Kantara Executive Director Colin Wallis. “IDEMIA will play an important role in support of our mission to improve trustworthy use of identity and personal data.”
“We are honored to join the Kantara Board to support its mission to ensure that people have control of their own data,” added IDEMIA Identity Solutions SVP said Matt Thompson.
IDEMIA is one of six new Kantara members, and joins the organization alongside Microsoft, Easy Dynamics, Turning Point, Folio Technologies, and Neocapita Security Consulting.
