“As a member of the ADI Association Board of Directors, we will work closely with the Association and other industry leaders to influence the future of the open specification and protocols, and the impact they will have on digital identity for everyone.” – Srinivas Singaraju, Vice President, Solutions, IDEMIA
IDEMIA has joined the Board of Directors of the Accountable Digital Identity (ADI) Association, a nonprofit focused on developing and promoting a framework for digital identity that is based on the principles of accountability, privacy, and interoperability.
The latter organization publicly unveiled its Specification for Accountable Digital Identity in the summer of last year. Informed by standards bodies including the FIDO Alliance, the World Wide Web Consortium, and the Decentralized Identity Foundation, the ADI Specification was designed to help companies detect fraud using verified identity solutions while ensuring that informed consent is collected and user privacy is protected.
Among the ADI Association’s founding members are major brands including CVS, Hitachi, and LG CNS. There are also a number of biometrics specialists, including Jumio, Onfido, Nok Nok Labs, NEC, and Suprema.
IDEMIA will be represented on the ADI Association board by Lisa Shoemaker, its Vice President of Government Relations, and Srinivas Singaraju, its Vice President of Solutions.
“As a member of the ADI Association Board of Directors, we will work closely with the Association and other industry leaders to influence the future of the open specification and protocols, and the impact they will have on digital identity for everyone,” explained Singaraju.
For her part, Shoemaker emphasized that IDEMIA brings to the table “broad deployment experience and deep identity industry expertise,” asserting, “we believe IDEMIA’s contributions will be vital to realizing the Association’s vision of accountable digital identity.”
IDEMIA’s contributions to the ADI Association’s activities could indeed prove valuable, given its stature as one of the biggest vendors of identity solutions in the world. The company was formed through the merger of Oberthur Technologies and Safran Identity & Security in 2017, though its composition could change later this year if parent company Advent International proceeds with reported plans of a sale of the firm.
