Welcome to ID Tech’s digest of identity industry news. Here’s what you need to know about the world of digital identity and biometrics today:
Biometrics Intelligence Hub Launches as Analytics Layer for Biometric Algorithm Benchmarks
The Biometrics Intelligence Hub has launched as a data-analytics platform that aggregates and standardizes public biometric benchmark data, starting with facial identification in one-to-many testing. Built on results from programs such as NIST’s FRVT, the platform provides historical performance tracking, comparative dashboards, developer deep dives, and automated alerts that summarize new benchmark releases. The Hub focuses on transparency and does not rank or score algorithms, presenting only publicly available evaluation outcomes. It expands Demystify Biometrics’ role from education into structured analytics, with future plans to incorporate fingerprint, iris, verification, liveness, and age-estimation results.
Indonesia Deploys Biometric “Seamless Corridors” at Scale for Airport Immigration
Indonesia has deployed biometric “Seamless Corridors” from Amadeus at Jakarta and Surabaya airports, enabling on-the-move facial recognition for immigration processing. Travelers pre-enroll through the All Indonesia app, allowing authorities to conduct checks before arrival, with multi-camera capture verifying identities as passengers walk. The system processed more than 50,000 Hajj pilgrims and achieved more than a tenfold throughput increase over eGates. The rollout complements 243 existing automated border control gates and is being expanded with support from local partner Sinergi Teknoglobal Perkasa.
EU Proposes European Business Wallets as Part of Digital Omnibus Package
The European Commission has proposed “European Business Wallets,” reusable digital identities for companies to streamline cross-border administrative processes. Introduced alongside the Digital Omnibus initiative, the business wallet would hold verifiable company credentials in a harmonized format built on Europe’s existing trust-services framework. The Commission estimates that simplified compliance and interoperability could produce up to 150 billion euros in annual savings. The proposal enters the legislative process as Member States advance their consumer-focused EUDI Wallet deployments.
Illinois Launches Mobile Driver’s Licenses and State IDs in Apple Wallet
Illinois has launched mobile driver’s licenses and state IDs in Apple Wallet, allowing residents to add credentials by scanning their physical card and completing a biometric selfie verification. The digital credentials support selective disclosure and can be used at more than 250 TSA checkpoints, including O’Hare and Midway. Illinois becomes the 13th U.S. state supporting Apple Wallet IDs, with Google and Samsung Wallet support planned in later phases. Officials emphasize that physical IDs should still be carried.
G-Knot Opens Presale for Finger Vein Biometric Crypto Wallet
G-Knot has opened presales for a crypto hardware wallet secured by finger-vein biometrics, using near-infrared imaging to capture vascular patterns stored inside an EAL 6+ secure element. A proprietary AI engine processes subdermal vein structures and includes liveness detection tied to real-time blood-flow analysis. The device launches at 299 dollars for early buyers and includes GKNT tokens. Initial support covers Ethereum, Solana, BNB, and XRP, with shipping targeted for early 2026.
D-AI and Saudi PIF Agree on National AI and Digital Identity Infrastructure Partnership
D-AI has signed a multi-year MoU with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund to build sovereign data centers, cloud platforms, and digital identity infrastructure supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals. The agreement emphasizes data residency, domestic control of critical systems, and workforce training to build local expertise. It aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader expansion of digital identity capabilities through platforms such as Absher and complementary agreements with vendors including IDEMIA and Estonia.
EnStream and Proximus Global Launch API to Combat Recycled Number Fraud in Canada
EnStream has partnered with Proximus Global to launch an API that informs enterprises when a mobile number has been reassigned, mitigating recycled-number fraud. Drawing on real-time data from Bell, Rogers, and Telus, the system allows relying parties to require step-up verification or block credential delivery when a number changes hands. The companies position the service as a way to reduce fraud tied to SMS-based authentication flows and to strengthen digital trust.
1Kosmos Adds Fraud Veterans to Advisory Board to Advance AI-Driven Identity Assurance
1Kosmos has appointed former Experian executive Eric Haller and former Early Warning Services COO Donna Turner to its Strategic Fraud Advisory Board. The company says their expertise in fraud analytics, payments risk, and identity data will guide its efforts to integrate AI into identity assurance. 1Kosmos continues to promote a combined model of remote identity proofing and passwordless authentication to counter phishing, credential theft, and synthetic identity fraud.
Bitwarden Extends Passkey-Based Login to Chromium Browser Extensions
Bitwarden now supports passkey login for its Chromium-based browser extensions, enabling users to authenticate without a master password. The feature uses the WebAuthn PRF extension so that passkeys contribute directly to the encryption process protecting vault data. Passkeys remain device-bound and phishing-resistant, with support coming to additional browsers as they adopt PRF. Existing login methods remain available.
