ID.me has announced the appointment of Brian Robins and Bill Welch as independent members to its Board of Directors, bringing extensive experience in technology leadership and cybersecurity to the digital identity verification company.
Brian Robins, currently serving as CFO of GitLab Inc., will chair ID.me’s Board Audit Committee. Robins brings over 25 years of leadership experience in high-growth software companies, having led GitLab’s IPO efforts and served as CFO at several technology firms including Cylance, AlienVault, and Verisign. He also maintains advisory positions with Brighton Park Capital, ForgePoint Capital Cybersecurity Advisory Council, and the GitLab Foundation Board.
Bill Welch, CEO of Sysdig, will serve as Chair of ID.me’s Board Compensation Committee and as a member of the Audit Committee. With more than 30 years of experience in cybersecurity and software companies, Welch previously led Zscaler’s global operations through its IPO, achieving a $32 billion market cap. His career includes COO positions at Duo Security, Talkdesk, and Zscaler, as well as senior leadership roles at HP Americas Software and Symantec. At Sysdig, Welch leads the development of AI-powered Sysdig Sage and open-source Falco for cloud threat detection.
The appointments come as ID.me reports revenue growth exceeding 370 percent from 2020 to 2023. The company, which was recently valued at $1.8 billion, has expanded its presence in both government and private sectors. ID.me’s digital identity verification services are now used by multiple federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs and Social Security Administration, which require either ID.me or Login.gov for online account access.
Blake Hall, ID.me’s Founder and CEO, stated that Robins and Welch bring complementary experience that will support the company’s growth trajectory. The company has also recently strengthened its executive team with the appointment of Christine Purcell as Chief Marketing Officer to further drive growth initiatives.
