ID.me has appointed Christine Purcell as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to further drive the company’s growth. The announcement marks a significant step for ID.me as it continues to expand its user base and revenue.
Christine Purcell brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served as Chief Business Officer at BeMe Health and Chief Marketing Officer at Twin Health. Her career also includes a notable tenure as Head of Marketing for Messenger at Facebook, where she led brand, product marketing, and go-to-market strategies for both Messenger and Messenger Kids. Notably, during her time at Facebook, she was involved in the launch of biometric authentication for Messenger, enhancing user security through features like App Lock, which allowed users to secure their conversations with device-level biometric authentication.
Purcell’s career is distinguished by her ability to lead marketing strategies for high-growth health tech companies, supported by her strategic acumen developed during her time as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company. Her experience in strategic consulting aligns well with ID.me’s ambitious growth plans, especially as the company was recently valued at $1.8 billion following a successful tender offer led by Ribbit Capital.
ID.me has experienced remarkable growth, with over 135 million users now signed up for its digital wallet. The number of users verified to the federal standards of IAL2 consumer authentication has surged to over 63 million, just eight months after reaching 50 million IAL2 users. The company’s revenue has increased by more than 370 percent from 2020 through 2023, driven by delivering superior results for its customers and members.
The company’s technology complies with federal consumer authentication standards set by the Commerce Department and is approved as a NIST 800-63-3 IAL2 / AAL2 credential service provider by the Kantara Initiative.
Blake Hall, Founder and CEO of ID.me, expressed enthusiasm about Purcell’s appointment, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome Christine to ID.me as our CMO. At ID.me, we’re revolutionizing the way people securely prove their identity online, expanding digital access while protecting privacy and preventing fraud. Christine’s proven leadership experience in marketing consumer and commercial products will be instrumental in driving our growth.”
Christine Purcell shared her excitement about joining the company. “I am passionate about products that empower people and keep them safe,” she said. “ID.me’s secure digital wallet serves people and businesses by simplifying the online experience while combating identity theft and fraud attacks.”
