IBM veteran Nicholas Donofrio has joined the HYPR board as its first independent director.
Donofrio joined IBM as an engineer in 1967, and ultimately retired in 2008 from his position as Executive Vice President, Innovation and Technology. Thus he “has experienced a half-century of innovation and disruption across multiple waves of technology,” as HYPR CEO George Avetisov put it in a statement announcing his appointment.
The company says that in his new position with HYPR, Donofrio “will provide extensive expertise on scaling technology, operations and corporate governance earned during his lengthy tenure at IBM.”
The appointment arrives as HYPR enjoys a rising profile in the digital security sector. The company recently received FIDO certification for the server component of its multimodal biometric authentication platform, and soon after that was named one of Gartner’s “Cool Vendors in Transforming Multichannel to Unified Retail Commerce” for 2017.
Commenting on his appointment, Donofrio lauded HYPR for its “impeccable focus and obsession with user experience”, adding that the company “is in a rare position to change how billions of people interact with the connected world.”
