iBeta Gets Accredited to Test for Additional Biometric Standards

iBeta has solidified its position as one of the world’s leading independent testing laboratories for biometric security products. The company was previously accredited under the NIST’s National Volunteer Laboratory Program (NVLAP), and has now been cleared to provide additional testing services after completing its biannual audit with the NIST.

iBeta was originally accredited under NVLAP Testing Lab Code 200962-0. After the audit, it is able to conduct Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) tests to determine whether or not a biometric solution is compliant with the ISO/IEC 30107-1 (2016), 30107-3 (2017), and 30107-4 (2020) standards. The latter two tests are new additions to the iBeta portfolio, after the company updated its methodology to test mobile devices. Those tests are carried out according to standards laid out in the ISO/IEC TS 19795-9 guidelines for mobile performance evaluation.

The ISO/IEC 19795 evaluation covers scenario and technology testing, which is featured in iBeta’s “Bake-Off” and “Face Off” services. The PAD test, meanwhile, is a measure of liveness detection, which is to say that it gauges a solution’s ability to identify spoofing attempts.

In other news, Android has also accredited iBeta as an Android Biometric Security Partner. The designation allows iBeta to conduct testing in accordance with the Android biometric BCR compliance program. iBeta has been collaborating with Android since the company first started partnering with testing labs, and also boasts accreditation from Mastercard, the FIDO Alliance, and the DEA for their various biometric programs.

“With these accreditations, iBeta is able to provide our clients a wide range of testing to various standards along with our Face-off and Bake-off and custom biometrics testing services,” said iBeta Biometrics Director Gail Audette. “We are pleased be able to assist the biometrics industry by providing independent third-party testing solution.”

CyberLink, Imageware, and Innovatrics have all completed PAD testing with iBeta in the past few months. iBeta itself now maintains a list of all of the liveness detection solutions that have obtained some form of certification.
