Hytera Aims for SMEs with Biometric Temperature Screening Solution

Shenzen-based Hytera, a manufacturer of radio receivers and systems, announced its latest temperature detection solution aimed at helping small to medium-sized organizations to both safely operate during the COVID-19 pandemic and open following the lifting of lockdown restrictions.

The body temperature measurement solution can be mounted on a tripod and placed wherever the need to screen individuals exists. Using facial recognition and contactless temperature detection that works even if a subject is wearing a mask, the solution can check guests, visitors, or employees against a database if needed, providing an extra layer of security and access control.

If the detected temperature is above a predetermined threshold, the device is capable of sending a notification to the Hytera PoC PNC550 or PTC760 handheld radios to alert personnel to take appropriate action.

The COVID-19 viral outbreak has forced the closure of a number of business and organizations in recent months in an effort to slow the spread of the virus and help prevent health care systems from becoming overburdened. Social and physical distancing measures, government mandated lockdowns, and the closure of schools has forced the global economy to grind to a halt. Temperature detection is one way organizations can use technology to try and ensure that when they do return to work they will be doing cautiously and with an aim of protecting the health of their employees and customers.

Due to its facial recognition capabilities, Hytera’s solution can keep records of the face, temperature and entry time of each individual and in the case that somebody does register a high fever symptomatic of COVID-19, it can search the database to trace anyone that may have been in contact with them to mitigate the spread of any potential infection.
