Humanity Protocol and Open Campus (EDU) have announced a strategic partnership to integrate decentralized identity systems with interoperable educational credentials. The collaboration combines Humanity Protocol’s Proof of Humanity (PoH) technology with Open Campus’s educational credentialing infrastructure.
Humanity Protocol specializes in digital identity innovation using Proof of Humanity technology and non-invasive biometrics, operating through its recently established Humanity Foundation. Open Campus operates as a decentralized education protocol enabling the creation, sharing, and verification of educational content and credentials through blockchain technology.
The integration leverages Humanity Protocol’s Self-Sovereign Identity framework and zkProofers for privacy-preserving verification, while incorporating Open Campus ID and the Achievements System for managing educational credentials. Users will be able to create portable portfolios that combine verified proof of humanity with educational achievements, usable across Web3 platforms. This builds upon Humanity Protocol’s $30 million seed round investment, which helped develop the startup’s palm vein biometric verification system.
Under the partnership, Open Campus Achievements will be authenticated through Humanity Protocol’s verifiable credential framework, while Open Campus ID will integrate with PoH technology for Sybil-resistant identity validation. The system enables privacy-preserving verification of credentials without exposing personal data, following similar principles as Switzerland’s national digital ID framework.
“Our partnership with Open Campus marks a significant milestone in integrating decentralized identity with education,” said Terence Kwok, Founder and CEO of Humanity Protocol. “By combining Proof of Humanity with Open Campus Achievements and Open Campus ID, we empower learners and educators to take control of their credentials in a way that is secure, interoperable, and privacy-focused.”
“By integrating with Proof of Humanity, we’re ensuring that learners and educators can seamlessly use their credentials across Web3, paving the way for a more interconnected and equitable decentralized education ecosystem,” added Jonah Lau, Head of Open Campus at Animoca Brands.
The partnership provides developers with tools to build decentralized applications integrating both identity verification and educational credentialing. Potential applications include decentralized education platforms, recruitment systems, and professional networking services. Additionally, Humanity Protocol will support Open Campus in engaging educational institutions to adopt the integrated credentialing system, expanding upon their existing university partnerships program.
