“In addition to the embedded fingerprint sensor, there’s an infrared sensor system that automatically scans a user’s face and hands for passive authentication…”
Huawei has launched another new device, the Huawei Honor Magic, that is taking advantage of Fingerprint Cards‘ under-glass sensor technology.
The new smartphone features an FPC1268 sensor – the same model used in Huawei recent Mate 9 Pro and Mate 9 Porsche Design devices enabling fingerprint scanning through cover glass. Accordingly, it features a curved glass chassis wrapping all around the device.
But it also has other sophisticated biometric capabilities. In addition to the embedded fingerprint sensor, there’s an infrared sensor system that automatically scans a user’s face and hands for passive authentication; the phone is designed to detect if it’s in the right user’s hands automatically.
It’s another step toward the comprehensive, passive authentication experience sought by companies like Google for the Android platform, but one that simultaneously incorporates some of the most cutting-edge fingerprint scanning technology on the market today.
