Huawei has sourced Fingerprint Cards (FPC) once again for the fingerprint sensor technology of a new mobile device.
Huawei’s new Honor 5X smartphone features a built-in FPC1025 sensor. While more recent smartphones from the company have featured other FPC sensor models, the FPC1025 is the same sensor used in the company’s MaiMang 4 smartphone, released this past summer.
The Honor 5X launched in China at the start of this week, and features a metal chassis, a 5.5″ display featuring 1080p resolution, and a Snapdragon 616 processor. According to GSM Arena, the FPC fingerprint sensor is fast, able to unlock the device in 0.4 seconds.
The device demonstrates Huawei’s continued enthusiasm for smartphone fingerprint sensors, and also helps to reinforce FPC’s strong position as a sensor supplier to OEMs, particularly in the Asia region market. Both trends seem likely to continue for the foreseeable future.
