France-based payment technology specialist Ingenico has teamed up with Fujitsu Frontech North America subsidiary Fulcrum Biometrics on a biometric Point-of-Sale solution based on palm vein identification. New York-based startup Token has been named a 2023 BIG Innovation Award winner, in recognition of its wearable security key solution. The Token Ring is designed to deliver passwordless, multi-factor authentication through gesture recognition and NFC technology. “Over just the last nine months, the Token smart ring has been recognized four times as the only authentication device that completely protects against user credentials being hacked, biometric information being stolen, and a cumbersome end user experience,” said Token CEO John Gunn.
Invixium Expands Beyond Biometrics
Toronto-based Invixium has debuted a new access control solution at this week’s Intersec Trade Show in Dubai. NSW Labor Makes Biometric ‘Self-exclusion’ From Casinos a Campaign Issue
New South Wales’ Labor party has made the mandatory use of facial recognition by casinos a part of its campaign platform ahead of an election in March. The aim is to compel gaming establishments to let problem players “self-exclude” by enrolling their faces in a biometric surveillance system. That would ensure that security automatically flags and ejects any self-excluded person who shows up at a casino. ClubsNSW, a lobby group representing the industry, has been a proponent of this biometric approach.
