Hitachi Europe is targeting the UK market through a new partnership with Alpha Generation Distribution, which specializes in IT security solutions. The company will be making Hitachi’s biometric finger vein technology available to customers through its extensive reseller network.
“We’re launching something built for today’s market and real end-user demand – and we think it’ll have a significant impact on security,” said Grahame Smee, the Group Managing Director at 4SEC Group, the parent company of Alpha Generation. “We’re looking forward to working with Hitachi to guide the product through the UK channel and take it to our reseller network in the coming months.”
“We’re in the unique position of having proven technology, already trusted in areas like banking, and the drive to make that technology more accessible and practical in a business setting,” added Ravi Ahluwalia, Hitachi Europe’s Security Business Group’s General Manager. “The missing piece was a distributor with the reach and channel expertise we need for a successful launch – and we found that in Alpha Generation.”
Hitachi first teased its finger vein solution back in 2016, demonstrating technology that could read veins and authenticate users with only a smartphone camera. The company has since branched out into other forms of biometrics, including facial recognition and a voice-based AI assistant. With Alpha Generation, Hitachi is hoping to encourage UK IT companies to adopt biometric technology as a post-password security solution that is safer and more convenient than the current password-based alternatives.
