“HID Global says it has already shipped over 150 million IDs with more than 50 national governments around the world.”
HID Global has acquired Arjo Systems, a provider of government ID and smart card solutions boasting of 20 years of experience. The company will be merged into HID’s Government ID Solutions division, with Arjo retaining its staff of about 100 across France, Hong Kong, and Italy.
Commenting on the acquisition in a statement, HID Global CEO Stefan Widing said it “significantly advances our Government-to-Citizen ID business,” adding that it will expand its roster of solutions for “government agencies, state printers and local integrators.” HID Global says it has already shipped over 150 million IDs with more than 50 national governments around the world.
The acquisition could thus help to further popularize HID Global’s biometric eID technology, with government agencies around the world showing increasing interest in such solutions as government services and administration continues to go digital.
