HID Expands FIDO Portfolio With New Hardware and Enterprise Passkey Management Platform

HID has announced a major expansion of its FIDO-certified authentication portfolio, introducing new hardware authenticators and a centralized Enterprise Passkey Management (EPM) system. The integrated offering is designed to simplify large-scale adoption of passwordless authentication while maintaining strong security standards.

The company’s newly launched EPM platform provides centralized control over FIDO credential lifecycles through a subscription-based model. It supports remote provisioning, credential tracking, and policy-based administration. The system is compatible with major identity providers including Microsoft Entra ID, making it easier for enterprises to deploy phishing-resistant authentication across hybrid environments.

Addressing Adoption Barriers with Scalable Solutions

The announcement comes amid heightened concern over authentication security. According to recent FIDO Alliance research, 87 percent of enterprises in the U.S. and UK plan to deploy passkeys for employee sign-ins. However, among organizations that haven’t yet adopted passkeys, complexity and cost remain the top cited challenges.

HID’s EPM platform addresses these concerns by offering a scalable, enterprise-ready approach to managing FIDO credentials. It provides IT teams with tools to automate credential deployment and reduce administrative overhead—features that are becoming critical as organizations seek to phase out traditional passwords.

Expanded Hardware Lineup for Enterprise Environments

HID has also introduced a new generation of hardware authenticators within its Crescendo series. The refreshed Crescendo Keys support FIDO2, PKI, and OATH protocols and include remote PIN reset capabilities. Crescendo Cards combine physical access control with digital authentication, while the OMNIKEY 5022 Contactless Reader provides FIDO2-based workstation login support.

In addition, HID unveiled new Seos® and MIFARE DESFire EV3 FIDO-enabled smart cards that allow users to unlock buildings and log into systems with a single credential. These dual-purpose cards are designed to support converged access, addressing growing enterprise demand for unified authentication tools that streamline employee workflows.

TX Systems Identity Solutions praised the Crescendo Key’s ease of use, calling it “simple to set up and intuitive” in HID’s official release. The product launch follows a wave of recent innovation in enterprise identity management, including platform-based integrations that aim to close authentication gaps across complex IT environments.

With these additions, HID continues to position itself at the forefront of enterprise-grade, passwordless authentication. Its latest offerings provide the tools needed to manage FIDO credentials at scale—bridging the gap between modern identity standards and operational practicality.
