BIO-key has entered into a major new partnership that will help extend the reach in the ePrescription market. The company is now working with HealthIDx, a federal Credential Services Provider (CSP).
Essentially, the aim is to bring together BIO-key’s biometric identification technologies and HealthIDx’s authentication services as a standards-compliant CSP, helping client healthcare organizations to comply with DEA regulations in ePrescribing. Commenting on the development in a statement, BIO-key SVP Jim Sullivan pointed to the range of technological offerings that his company has to offer in this market, asserting that with “over 40 fingerprint scanners on a variety of platforms, we offer customers more deployment options than any ePrescribing authentication solution provider,” and added that the HealthIDx partnership would further expand customers’ choices as they “are free to choose in-house or CSP ID proofing, as well as in-house or CSP-hosted transactional authentication services.”
This newest development adds to a more general trend of expansion for the company, with BIO-key having recently extended its IP portfolio and raised considerable investment financing as it seeks to grow. By further branching into the EPCS market, BIO-key could find many opportunities as demand for biometric authentication solutions in this area grows.
