HandsFree Health has unveiled new technology that will facilitate the remote setup of the company’s various healthcare solutions. That includes the HIPAA compliant WellBe virtual assistant platform, in addition to wearable devices and mobile applications.
The new patent-pending system will allow customers to conduct remote registration and limit the need for in-person contact. The technology is expected to be particularly useful in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, when more people are working from home and everyone is being asked to avoid any unnecessary in-person interactions.
“While Americans are social distancing, we are struggling with how to keep loved ones healthy and happy when we cannot be physically near them,” said HandsFree Health President and Co-Founder Mike Cardillo. “Our technology helps to minimize disruptions to healthcare while also providing the entertainment of a voice assistant to help relieve anxiety.”
“Now, more than ever, we need to access health and wellness resources within the home,” added Co-Founder Dan Messina. “Reliable information paired with innovative health technology can promote adherence.”
The remote setup solution will be available in the United States later this year. In the meantime, HandsFree Health is one of several companies currently trying to improve healthcare outcomes with voice technology. For example, Nuance recently launched a new ambient clinical intelligence solution to help with record keeping, and then updated the platform to support telehealth. BioIntelliSense has also released a new BioHub and a BioSticker to enable remote patient monitoring during the pandemic.
