Hancom WITH says its facial-authentication platform, Hancom Auth, has passed the performance evaluation run by the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearings Institute, clearing a benchmark that financial institutions use to judge biometric systems. The assessment is designed to confirm that a solution meets the security and reliability requirements expected for banking and other financial services in South Korea.
The evaluation focused on systems that keep biometric data distributed rather than pooled in one place. It covered compliance with distributed biometric-information management, alongside authentication accuracy, processing speed, system stability, and encryption. Passing across those measures is meant to show that Hancom Auth can match faces quickly and securely while holding biometric records in a decentralized architecture, an approach that limits the exposure of a single central store of sensitive data.
The company cast the result as external validation of its technology for the financial sector. “The fact that Hancom Auth has met the biometric performance standards established by KFTC objectively demonstrates that the solution reflects the requirements of the Korean financial industry,” said Song Sang-yeob, CEO of Hancom WITH, adding that the company would build on the assessment to strengthen its position in the facial-authentication market.
The evaluation extends Hancom WITH’s push into authentication products, following its move to launch the xCAuth continuous authentication platform in South Korea. For financial institutions weighing face-based login and verification, a pass against the KFTC’s measures offers a common reference point on matching performance and data handling.
