South Korean biometric security specialist Suprema, Inc. has announced the appointment of Vice President Hanchul Kim as the company’s new CEO of its BioStar business division.
The announcement was made at the company’s March 23 general shareholders and board of directors meeting.
“Last year, we saw a surge in demand for contactless solutions and flexibility in use of different credentials due to COVID-19,” said Kim. “The advancement of AI deep learning technology also led to the spread of face recognition technology, leading to changes in the access security market. Suprema will focus capabilities to transform into a leader in the Access Control as a Service (ACaaS) field by further developing its AI deep learning technology and data analysis technology.”
Suprema has been enjoying a strong period over the past year during which it celebrated its 20th anniversary, held its first ever virtual showcase, featured as one of the Top 50 Global Security Companies on an A&S list for the tenth consecutive year, and most recently finished first in a survey of more than 500 respondents as a top brand for access control management software and mobile access solutions.
Kim, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, is an industry veteran with extensive software and business development experience with massive companies such as Motorola, Harman, and Samsung Electronics.
He joined Suprema in 2015 and proceeded to lead the company’s oversees business growth portfolio through the aggressive overseas expansion of new branches of its channel network.
