“Founded in 2001, Neonode produces and licenses sensing technologies for device displays and other applications that are designed to enable touch interaction, gesture interaction, and object detection.”
Former Precise Biometrics CEO Håkan Persson has been appointed the new CEO of Neonode Inc., a Stockholm-based developer of optical sensing technologies for tech devices. Persson’s new role will become effective April 1st.
The news comes less than a month after Persson’s abrupt departure from fingerprint recognition software specialist Precise Biometrics. Having led that company through a strong growth phase fueled by the mobile biometrics revolution, Persson stepped down without explanation last month, with Precise Biometrics announcing that he would be replaced by CFO Göran Thuresson on an interim basis until a new CEO, Stefan K. Persson, takes the helm on August 1st.
A statement announcing Håkan Persson’s new position with Neonode highlighted his experience as CEO of Precise Biometrics, with Neonode board of directors chairman Ulf Rosberg asserting, “We believe that his solid experience from change leadership and driving sales in innovative technology companies will be instrumental for Neonode’s journey ahead.”
Founded in 2001, Neonode produces and licenses sensing technologies for device displays and other applications that are designed to enable touch interaction, gesture interaction, and object detection. The company’s sensors are not biometric, but given their applications in devices in which biometrics are playing an increasingly important role, such as smartphones and tablets, it’s quite possible that Håkan Persson’s work will bring him into contact with colleagues from the biometrics industry as he proceeds in his new role with Neonode.
