The Digital Identification and Authentication Council of Canada (DIACC) has announced a number of high-profile appointments to its Board of Directors, including financial sector executives and government officials.
The latter include Manish Agarwal, the Ontario Government’s Chief Information Officer, and Erin Hardy, the General Counsel & Chief Privacy Officer for Service New Brunswick. From the financial side, DIACC’s board is welcoming Neil Butters, the VP and Head of Product Architecture for Interac Corp., and TD Associate Vice President Karan Puri. Manulife Canada’s VP and Head of Technology Functions, Jonathan Cipryk, is also getting on board.
“On behalf of the DIACC Board, I am thrilled to welcome our newly elected and re-elected board members,” said DIACC Board Chair Dave Nikolejsin. “Their expertise and dedication are invaluable as we advance digital trust in the global digital economy. We will continue to work together to advance a secure, efficient, privacy-respecting, and inclusive digital ecosystem.”
Founded in 2012, the DIACC has established itself as Canada’s central advocate for digital ID. The organization released its Pan-Canadian Trust Framework (PCTF) Authentication Final Recommendation V1.2 last month, marking a significant step in its efforts to establish a framework for trusted digital credential issuance and authentication.
The DIACC also recently partnered with the Open Identity Exchange (OIX), a global non-profit organization. The organizations are looking to make sure that different kinds of digital credentials are recognized across different frameworks, and to ensure interoperability across borders.
