ImageWare is looking to meet the rising demand for passwordless authentication options with the launch of its new ImageWare Authenticate platform. ImageWare Authenticate is a rebranded version of the company’s older GoVerifyID solution, and introduces a handful of new features that make the new solution better suited to the modern remote work environment.
Most notably, ImageWare Authenticate does not require any specialized hardware, and will instead allow companies to leverage the biometric scanners built into a regular mobile device. The matches themselves are conducted in the cloud, and are not linked to one particular device. As a result, the platform can provide comprehensive coverage across an entire network.
ImageWare Authenticate can be easily integrated into an existing access control system through OIDC and SAML protocols, while the cloud backend makes the system easier to manage with a centralized self-service portal. ImageWare itself has already secured its first two Authenticate customers, announcing that the Landmark Credit Union in Wisconsin and Catlin Bank in Illinois will both be using the platform to provide secure access to their employees.
“The ImageWare Authenticate solution provides the flexibility we need to protect application and network access,” said Catlin Bank President and CEO Jeff Fauver.
“With the 300 percent increase in cybercrime since the beginning of the pandemic in addition to the movement to remote work, ImageWare moved quickly to meet the demand for easy verification and authentication of users with biometrics,” added ImageWare President, CEO, and Chairperson Kristin Taylor. “With the launch of ImageWare Authenticate, we will help organizations better secure their data while ensuring a low-friction end-user experience.”
ImageWare Authenticate leverages a mobile app that is available for Android and iOS devices. The multimodal solution offers support for multiple biometric modalities, including face, fingerprint, iris, and voice recognition.
ImageWare brought GoVerifyID to macOS computers back in 2019. In 2020, the company revamped its business with a slew of new executive hires, including its first VP of Go-to-Market and Portfolio Strategy. It also partnered with ipCapital in an effort to build a new biometric IP licensing program.
