GoTyme Bank has connected its account-opening process directly to the Philippine National ID Authentication Services, allowing customers to verify their identity without uploading or photographing a separate government ID.
The integration checks an applicant’s information against records held by the Philippine Statistics Authority in real time. Customers can begin the process by scanning the QR code on a physical, digital or paper National ID, entering a PhilSys Card Number, or providing their name and date of birth.
GoTyme says eligible applicants can open an account in as little as five minutes. Removing the document-image step is intended to reduce the number of screens and manual actions required while preserving a government-backed identity check inside the bank’s mobile onboarding flow.
The bank is among the first Philippine financial institutions to connect with the National ID Authentication Services, known as NIDAS, at the system level. The service gives relying organizations a channel to validate identity data against the country’s foundational ID registry rather than treating a presented card image as the sole proof.
Philippine banks have been moving toward similar National ID-based onboarding. LANDBANK recently introduced ID-free account opening through PhilSys face verification, using a selfie match against National ID records for customers who meet the eligibility criteria.
National ID authentication is also expanding beyond financial services. Tayabas connected municipal processes to the platform as part of a local government National ID authentication deployment, illustrating the registry’s role as shared infrastructure for public and private services.
More than 94 million people have registered with the Philippine National ID system. GoTyme framed the integration as an access measure for consumers who struggle to meet traditional documentation requirements, including people who have a National ID record but do not regularly use another accepted identity document.
The deployment also gives the bank a direct verification route for customer due diligence. GoTyme Chief Strategy and Proposition Officer Shern Teo said the connection enables the bank to confirm an applicant’s identity against official records while making registration simpler and faster.
The new onboarding option is available through GoTyme’s digital account-opening process. Customers still move through the bank’s registration controls, but the identity evidence can now come from the National ID service instead of an uploaded document image.
